Here is a great spring cocktail very similar to a Smash, and purportedly invented in Chicago (and popular with mobsters back in the day). Throw on a Fedora and enjoy!
The Southside
2 oz Distiller’s Gin No. 6
¾ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
¾ oz Simple Syrup
3-4 Fresh Mint Leaves
Add ingredients to your shaker, shake well with ice. Strain into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass, and garnish with a sprig of mint or a lemon twist. Fine strain into glass if prefer to remove the tiny bits of mint.
Cheers!
