I guess we have to admit that Autumn is upon us. We love this cocktail for fall, the sweet spice notes in the honey play beautifully with the savory spices in our Aquavit – Private Reserve. It’s a cocktail that makes the change of seasons a little easier…
Norwegian Bear Hug
2 oz Aquavit-Private Reserve
½ oz Honey Syrup + 1/4 oz Chai Syrup (or 3/4 oz Spiced Honey Syrup – see below))
½ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
2 drops Peychaud’s Bitters
Club Soda
Shake first four ingredients with ice, strain into a chilled coupe glass. Add a dash of club soda, if desired, and garnish with a lemon peel.
Spiced Honey Syrup
1 cup honey
½ cup water
1 tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp ground cardamom
¼ tsp ground ginger
dash of ground allspice
Heat in a saucepan, stirring often to dissolve honey. Simmer lightly for a few minutes, cool, and store in a clean jar in the refrigerator for up to a month.
