Designed together with a fellow cocktail aficionado who visits from time to time, this cocktail is a riff on the classic Martinez that turned out to be perfect for fall.
In this drink the traditional gin base of the Martinez is switched out for a base of NSD For Peat’s Sake Whiskey – this whiskey has notes of oak, smoke and earth, and a lingering, round finish. Along with sweet vermouth, maraschino and bitters, it makes a boozy, layered cocktail, reminiscent of the warmth and coziness of fall nights around the campfire. The deep red color of the cocktail matches the season perfectly, and even can be a subtle nod to Halloween!
