This drink is the creation of our beloved bartender, Mimi – if you’ve been to the distillery on a Friday night in the past four years, you probably know who we’re talking about! Of course, since this cocktail is her creation, we decided to name it after her. It’s a take on the popular Corpse Reviver No. 3, which is itself a take on the Corpse Reviver No. 2 from the Savoy Cocktail Book. Mimi’s Corpse is a summery version, with floral notes from the hibiscus and Scofflaw Old Tom Gin.
Mimi’s Corpse
1 oz Scofflaw Old Tom Gin
½ oz North Shore Curaçao (or Cointreau)
1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
½ oz Hibiscus Simple*
¼ oz Sirène Absinthe Verte
3 Dashes Peychaud’s Bitters
Shake ingredients with ice, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
*Hibiscus simple syrup recipe: heat 2 cups water and 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers to boiling, then remove from heat and steep for 5 minutes. Strain out hibiscus flowers, then add 3 cups of sugar and simmer for 1 minute. Remove from heat and cool completely, then store in refrigerator for up to 1 month.
