In American Whiskey Recipes

The Manhattan is one of the enduring classics in the cocktails of the world – its rich, deep flavors combine to make a smooth, delicious sipper. Coffee and whiskey are also a great pairing, so in this riff on the classic we’re adding a coffee liqueur to the mix, along with a touch of vanilla simple syrup to highlight those delightful bourbon notes and balance the slight bitterness brought by the coffee. We’re using the classic Angostura aromatic bitters in our version, but you can also try chocolate or coffee bitters at home to bring out different flavors.

Coffee Manhattan

3 oz NS American Whiskey
1 oz Sweet Vermouth (we use Carpano Antica Formula)
½ oz Coffee Liqueur (we use Mr Black)
¼ oz Vanilla Simple
2 Dashes Angostura Bitters

Add ingredients to mixing pitcher, then stir with ice for at least 20 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass & garnish with a cocktail cherry.
