In Gin No. 11 Recipes

The Aviation is a classic gin cocktail from the golden pre-Prohibition days, that disappeared for decades but has been resurrected with this century’s renewed interest in cocktail classics. For a long time the ingredient which gives this drink its gorgeous violet color was almost impossible to find – so much so that The Savoy Cocktail Book left out crème de violette from its Aviation recipe altogether! In more recent times the original recipe for the cocktail has been re-discovered, and this once-forgotten drink can be enjoyed as originally intended.

Aviation

2 oz Gin No. 11
½ oz Maraschino Liqueur (we use Luxardo)
¾ oz Lemon Juice
¼ oz Plain Simple
Barspoon of Crème de Violette

Shake ingredients with ice, then strain into chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a cocktail cherry in the bottom of the glass.
