The first edition of our new seasonal curaçao

For 2018-2019, we’re kicking off a new annual tradition – a seasonal spirit for the winter season.

Each year, we’ll introduce a new take on a delicious curaçao. What is a curaçao, you ask? It’s a specific style of orange liqueur, classically made with a variety of oranges, including bitter oranges (such as the Laraha, which are native to the island of Curaçao, or Seville oranges, which were planted on Curaçao by Spanish settlers). The fundamental orange notes will be the constant – everything else will change each year.

For our first edition, we’re starting with a base spirit made from honey. We’ve fermented the honey into a mead and distilled it. Then, we’re adding a variety of oranges, along with a few spices and herbs. The result is a delicious, nuanced sipping liqueur. It also happens to be great in cocktails too, of course.

Tasting Notes:

A delicate aroma of oranges and honey, with rich, layered flavors. Sweet, dry and layered orange notes, with a touch of honey on the finish and accents of fresh herbs. Not as sweet as you might expect – extremely sippable.

Drink Ideas:

Beehive Curaçao makes a delicious after-dinner sipper on its own or over ice. It also plays incredibly well herbaceous spirits like gin, and with rums and other aged spirits. The honey and orange notes balance well with a wide variety of flavors. Find a range of cocktail ideas for it on our website here.

Beehive Curaçao is 40% alcohol by volume (80 proof)
