Our drink of the month is a simple, delicious sipper. Closer to a gimlet in proportions, it’s super refreshing, not too sweet (especially for a Daiquiri), and has layers of flavor. It’ll even be great in summer, which officially arrives later this month!
Spring Daiquiri
2 oz North Shore Third Coast Rum
3/4 oz Fresh Lime Juice
3/4 oz Berry-infused Simple*
2 drops Bittermens’ Tiki Bitters
Shake with ice, strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a lime wedge. Enjoy!
*Berry-infused Simple: 1 cup water, 1-1/2 cups sugar, and 1 cup of fresh berries (if using strawberries or blackberries, cut them into chunks before using; blueberries and raspberries also work). Bring to a simmer, and simmer for 5 minutes. Cool completely, then strain out berries. Do not mash when straining if you want the syrup to be relatively clear – it will be cloudy (yet also more flavorful) if you mash the berries into your strainer at the end. If you prefer, you could use plain simple and muddle in a few berries instead.
In our pictured drink, the berry simple was all strawberries, so it is lighter in color. If you use other types of berries, the color will be different and the flavor may also be slightly different. Still delicious, just a different type of berry note.
