As winter returns – even if its (hopefully) momentarily – at the same time as we’re gearing up for our annual Malt Whiskey Fest this weekend, it’s natural for our thoughts to turn to warm, whiskey-based cocktails. So this week we’re serving a smoky old fashioned, made with both our 2021 Malt Whiskey release and our limited release of For Peat’s Sake Whiskey. These whiskies blend into a warm, rich old fashioned, with notes of smoke and orange – perfect to drink on these chilly March nights as we’re waiting for spring.

Smoky Old Fashioned

2 oz NS Malt Whiskey
½ oz NS For Peat’s Sake Whiskey
½ oz Demerara Simple
1 Half Wheel Orange
2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Muddle demerara, orange & bitters in a mixing pitcher, then add whiskeys. Stir with ice for at least 20 seconds, then strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with a flamed orange peel.
