This week, we have a guest recipe from our good friends at Uncommon Ground in Chicago. They are hosting a fantastic Slow Food Dinner tonight, and serving this amazing drink with our new Bourbon Cask Rum for the welcome cocktail! In fact, if you are seeing this on Wednesday, August 23, there is still time to attend the dinner – get your tix here!
If you’re like us and you cannot be there (we are so very unhappy that we cannot be there, but alas, we can’t), then make this beauty at home – it will help you feel less bad about missing an amazing dinner and seeing the incredible rooftop garden that Helen and Michael Cameron, and their team at Uncommon Ground, have built. Fun fact: they grow at least as much, as if not more, food on their rooftop garden than a conventional farm would produce in the same amount of space. And they are totally organic, sustainable and conscientious in all their practices. Helen has taught me a lot about gardening and has inspired me to view myself as a “caretaker of the soil” too.
