In Rum Recipes

In anticipation of Boozy Snow Cone night this Friday, we bring you one of the cocktails that will also be one of the snowcones – the Doubly Stormy! It features our new Doublewood Rum, along with ginger beer and lime.

This one is a simple riff on the classic “Dark ‘n Stormy”, which was invented in Bermuda and was originally made with a rum from there. The owner of that rum has a trademark on it, in fact, and claims that the drink isn’t really the same unless you use their rum – this is a cocktail that has a surprisingly litigious history. So, we’re definitely not using that name!

DOUBLY STORMY

1½ oz North Shore Doublewood Rum
¼ oz Fresh Lime Juice (if desired)
Fever Tree Ginger Beer

Add rum and lime juice to a tall glass, add ice then top with ginger beer. Stir and garnish with a lime wedge, if desired.

A note on the lime here: some recipes call for the addition of lime juice, some just call for a wedge, and some just call for a slice of lime on the top of the drink. You should add as much, or as little, lime juice as you like in here. For us, it depends on the ginger beer we’re using – some are really sweet, and some are less so.
