In Aquavit Recipes

Like last week’s drink, this one was on our Valentine’s menu too – we had some drinks for people who were happy in love, as well as a few for people who are not. All the drinks were named for songs, and this one gets it’s name from the Usher song.

BURNChocolate Chile cocktail

2 oz Aquavit – Private Reserve
1 oz Chocolate Chile Syrup*
¾ oz Fresh Lemon
4 oz Hot Water

In a mug, stir together aquavit, syrup, and lemon. Add hot water, stir again, and garnish with with a slice of serrano chile or other hot chile on the rim.

To make the chocolate chile syrup, just follow our normal simple syrup recipe, but add in 1 tbsp good cocoa powder and 1/2 tsp (or more, to taste) of cayenne pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes, then fine-strain. It will require shaking up before using, but will be worth it!
