This drink on our current cocktail menu features a limited release from a little while ago – housemade Kümmel. This spirit is a lesser known, herbal-style liqueur with caraway as a dominant flavor. It’s delicious for sipping, and also for mixing – some classic old cocktails call for this obscure ingredient, and it plays well with other savory flavors, like those in the Backpacking in Europe. Fresh cucumber, celery bitters, and our Distiller’s Gin No. 11 add layers of intriguing flavor, and are all brought together by the light, frothy egg white.
Backpacking in Europe
Muddle first three ingredients together, then add lime, Kümmel, gin and egg white. Shake first without ice, then add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into chilled cocktail glass, and garnish with a cucumber slice.
