Here’s what we’ll be enjoying on the holiday weekend, with some great BBQ and friends on the patio!

Red White & Blue Fizz

2 oz North Shore Gin No. 6 (or Twisted Citrus)
½ oz Basil Simple (or rosemary, thyme, mint, lavender or ginger)
½ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
Tonic Water
Strawberry slices, honeydew stars & blueberries for garnish

Add gin, basil simple and lemon juice to a large goblet. Fill with ice, then top with tonic. Add garnishes as desired, and a lemon twist.

Garden Caipiroska

1½ oz North Shore Vodka (or Gin 11)
3 slices of English Cucumber (or fresh garden cucumber), cut into wedges
A few slices of Radish (or use a hot pepper instead)
½ oz Fresh Lime Juice
½ oz Plain Simple (or use basil, thyme or rosemary simple instead)

Muddle cucumber, radish, lime and simple. Add vodka, fill shaker halfway with ice, then shake well and pour entire contents of shaker into a rocks glass. Garnish with a fresh slice of cucumber on the rim.

Rather Melondramatic

1½ oz North Shore Vodka
½ oz Fresh Lime Juice
¾ oz Mint Simple
3 large chunks of Watermelon

Muddle watermelon, simple & juice in mixing tin – if you like, throw in some extra mint to taste. Add vodka and shake with ice. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass, then garnish with a mint sprig or watermelon slice, or both.

Making this one for a party? Puree the watermelon in a blender, then fine-strain it. Use 2-3 oz of juice per cocktail instead of the chunks (be sure to shake the juice before use, it settles very quickly).

Halekulani

To be honest, we’ll probably sip some whiskey straight by the firepit if it cools down in the evenings. But, we might also mix up a delicious tropical cocktail, such as this one:

1½ oz North Shore American Whiskey
½ oz Pineapple Juice
½ oz Fresh Orange Juice
½ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
½ oz Demerara Simple
1/8 oz Grenadine
2 dash Angostura Bitters

Shake ingredients with ice, then strain into a rocks glass over ice. Garnish with a lemon wheel.

Happy 4th of July!
