This is one of the most versatile, delicious cocktails, and it is perfect for spring and summer (and fall and winter).
Recipe for The Gimlet
2 oz spirit of choice – North Shore Vodka, Sol Chamomile Citrus Vodka, Distiller’s Gin No. 6, Distiller’s Gin No. 11, or Mighty Gin all work well here
1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
3/4 oz Simple Syrup (or honey syrup or infused syrup)
Shake ingredients with ice, strain into chilled coupe or cocktail glass (or heck, on the rocks if you want it that way). Garnish with a lime wheel, if you’re feeling decadent (given the price of limes these days).
History of this drink: at least one version of this drink’s history dates back to a British naval surgeon, Dr. Gimlette. In order to get sailors to take their non-alcoholic preserved lime juice (and prevent scurvy), he put some gin in it, and the Gimlet was born.
