This is one of the most versatile, delicious cocktails, and it is perfect for spring and summer (and fall and winter).
Recipe for The Gimlet
2 oz spirit of choice –¬†North Shore Vodka, Sol Chamomile Citrus Vodka, Distiller’s Gin No. 6,¬†Distiller’s Gin No. 11, or Mighty Gin all work well here
1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
3/4 oz Simple Syrup (or honey syrup or infused syrup)
Shake ingredients with ice, strain into chilled coupe or cocktail glass (or heck, on the rocks if you want it that way). ¬†Garnish with a lime wheel, if you’re feeling decadent (given the price of limes these days).
History¬†of this drink: at least one version of this drink’s history¬†dates back to a British naval surgeon, Dr. Gimlette. ¬†In order to get sailors to take their non-alcoholic preserved lime juice (and prevent scurvy), he put some gin in it, and the Gimlet was born.
